Future generations will judge us with unimaginable harshness if we fail to address the coming global catastrophe! |
Definition Climate Change: Longterm change of Earth's climate with changes in Earth's atmosphere, changes of global interactions between the atmosphere and geologic, chemical, biological, and geographic factors. |
WHY is Nature conservation important?WHY protect the environment? |
Because Human lives depend on it! |
Don't believe that our problem Climate change will disappear.
Believe us, it will get worse! We need to manage this problem, our kids will face this problem, and our grandkids will be very mad with us. What's ahead? Politicians will mitigate. Depending on our input there will be adaptation, and we are sorry to say, there will be suffering. It depends on us - we are the people, the voters, the ones who have to pay for it. One problem is Earth's fossil fuel infrastructure. The second is Earth's growing population! Both factors are causing severe weather, droughts, floods, changing earthquake pattern = unexpected disasters. Most of Earth's population is unprepared for what's coming. It is difficult for us to stop population growth. Maybe the results of Climate change will have a saying on that... |
What is a hurricane? ![]() A hurricane is a type of tropical cyclone. A low pressure system forms in the tropics, moving westward. The cyclone is accompanied by thunderstorms. In the Northern Hemisphere, these storms have a counterclockwise circulation of winds near the earth's surface. In the Southern Hemisphere, these storms have a clockwise circulation. The ingredients for a hurricane include a pre-existing weather disturbance, warm tropical oceans, moisture, and relatively light winds aloft. If the right conditions persist long enough, they can combine to produce violent winds, incredible waves, torrential rains, and floods. About a dozen tropical storms develop over the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, and Gulf of Mexico, every year. Many storms remain over the ocean and have no direct impact to coastlines. But often these storms become hurricanes, killing ~200 people. Sometimes, these storms become "major" or "intense" hurricanes. Then scientists tell us about a category 3 or higher storm. The phrase Tropical Depression is used for an organized system of clouds and thunderstorms with a defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds of 38 mph (33 kt) or less The phrase Tropical Storm is used for an organized system of strong thunderstorms with a defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds of 39-73 mph (34-63 kt) The phrase Hurricane is used for an intense tropical weather system of strong thunderstorms with a well-defined surface circulation and maximum sustained winds of 74 mph (64 kt) or higher The Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Scale is used to categorize the different strength of a storm. A Category 1 storm has the lowest wind speeds, while a Category 5 hurricane has the strongest. Meteorologists like to name hurricanes. Names are used, when wind speeds reach 39 mph (34 kts). |

What we can do is to use far less energy overall: less energy from fossil fuels, less energy waste, more energy conservation, more efficiency! Better transportation, environmentally manufacturing, better food production. |
B+S+B solutions on Climate Change: A) Because many nations, many people, don't have the knowledge / education to understand the problem, Nature education is very important. But till we get there we need to put a steadily rising price on carbon. We know for sure, that people change their behavior when energy costs more. And we need to reduce, better bring to zero the fossil fuel subsidies!! The money we get out of this carbon tax, should only be used to finance solutions to Climate change! |
B) Now we have lowered energy consumption and we have the money:
We can encourage massive deployment of existing clean energy and efficiency technology. Solar water heating, photo-voltaic, heat pumps, fuel cells cars and buses in public transportation, wind turbines, ocean tide power plants... There are many energy saving, energy producing possibilities out there - ready to use! C) We have many smart scientists and engineers out there. Support them, give them tax breaks, double the energy research budget, start the innovation machine worldwide! This will lead to massive spending, will lead to more public awareness, will draw public money in new businesses, creation of new environmental prizes, programs. And it will help to boost investment in infrastructure. Main parts we need to invest: New, more efficient electricity generation. New, more efficient transmission lines. A new Smart grid with better distribution. Much better insulation of houses and factories New continental trains, regional trains, public transit. New more efficient freight rail instead of gas guzzling trucks. New infrastructure for electric-cars. New and better sea walls to keep out rising oceans. Think about what these investments would cause? Creation of millions of jobs! Extension of natural resources for the next generation. Lower air pollution = better health for all life = less costs for health care! We need to make a significant dent in the climate change curve, what will lead to a better protection of biodiversity. We need to protect our rain forests. Rainforests regulate Earth's climate. B+S+B works hard to protect all forests on Earth and the animals, plants and people that depend on them. We campaign for sustainable agriculture, emissions reductions and increases in the use of energy-efficient technologies. Climate change is among the most pervasive threats to the Earth today. |
Tornadoes transport violent warm air over long distances. Ice on Greenland + on Ant-Arctica is melting, causing higher ocean levels. Informed people have the power to address its root causes and limit its impact on our planet (the only home we have). Without action, climate change will cause the extinction of countless species and destroy some of Earth's most precious ecosystems, putting billions of humans at risk. |
Do you know how much water is in Earth's atmosphere? Do you know how much CO2 humans produce? Do you know why burning fossil fuel changes our climate? |
