Definition: Air pollution Chemicals + gases in our air that are NOT a normal part of Earth's air or are not normal in these amounts! |
Pollution |
Pollution on Earth affects essential aspects: Air + water + food + all living beings |

52% of the United States’ electricity is generated using coal as fuel. Do you know that coal fired power plants emit mercury? Do you know that coal fired power plants emit CO2 carbon dioxide? Do you know that coal fired power plants emit NOx nitrogen oxides? Do you know that coal fired power plants emit SO2 sulfur dioxide? Do you know that coal fired power plants emit radiation uranium-235!? click here to get nuclear + radiation facts Why do we publish this list of emissions? The tremendous amount of electricity produced in the United States is the main reason for the high air and water pollution rates in the US! Over 20000 people die every year in the US because of pollution! These emissions harm all life on Earth - AND of course YOU! |
|
Pollutants are emitted in completely different ways, there are many different types of pollution, all pollutants harm living organisms! A) Air pollution: *)emitted though the exhaust of motor vehicles *)the combustion of fossil fuels, the burning of coal and oil. *)mainly emitted producing electricity burning fossil fuels Most of Earth's pollution comes from the production of electricity. B)Fresh Water pollution is the result of industrial waste, environmental accidents and greed for money. C)Water pollution + Ocean pollution D)Soil pollution + food pollution E)Noise pollution F)Light pollution All societies know that pollution is harmful and a serious problem for Earth but generally people are self centered. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was the worst disaster American people and all other living beings on Earth had to deal with, but after a few month business went back to usual... A few years ago huge amounts of oil have spilled into the Gulf of Mexico, oil evaporates slowly, but the fumes are toxic. Millions of Americans living on the Gulf coast are still breathing in contaminated air from evaporating oil. Marine scientists have told us: 1) A thick layer of chemically altered oil lays on the ocean floor. 2) Water pollution comes mainly from coal fired power-plants, chemical plants, and washed off fertilizers! Websites of Bear Springs Blossom Nature Conservation offer you tips and advice, without lies or political blindness! |
![]() When was the last time you have seen WHITE snow without the colors of air pollution? Nature produces artistic creations - humans call it Art Be prepared to hear and experience extreme weather news. Violent weather is one of the results of air pollution! |

Violent weather caused by pollution Severe dust storms battered the US Prepare for more to come! The overall configuration of warmer-than-normal temperatures in the north and cooler-than-normal temperatures in the south probably results in violent climate patterns. |

Everybody needs to contribute to prevention. Many small steps can make a big difference! People every where on Earth should obey laws, laws that protect their families, their neighbors, their friends. Government involvement is key to regulating toxins, building waste systems and protecting air and waters. Pollution factsPollution hurts every living being on Earth! Humans are the biggest producers of pollution!Pollution will shorten our life Pollution is causing many illnesses + Pollution can lead to extinction of many.. |

In cities are 3 main sources of pollutants: 1) Transportation mainly automobiles, trucks, buses 2) Burning in stationary sources, including residential, commercial, and industrial heating and cooling 3) Coal-burning power plants and trash incinerators In some states even trash-barrel-burning is lawful .. Motor vehicles produce high levels of carbon monoxides (CO) and a major source of hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrogen oxides (NOx). Burning in stationary sources is the dominant source of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and dioxins - 1 millionth of an ounce will kill a human! Power plants emit about 90% of the sulfur dioxide and 57% of the nitrogen oxides in the US. Chlorofluorocarbons CFC's, also known as Freons, are greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming. Photochemical air pollution is commonly referred to as "smog". Smog is causing Asthma, lung cancer, heart disease and harms the grow-up process of our children. |

Land pollutionLand Pollution is the degradation of earth's land surfaces. Human activities are the main factor and their misuse of land resources. Haphazard disposal of urban and industrial wastes, exploitation of minerals, and improper use of soil by inadequate agricultural practices are a few factors. Urbanization and industrialization are major causes of land pollution. There are different ways we can handle our wastes, there are different ways to develop sub divisions, there are better ways to harvest minerals - we just have to think about our impact ...The Industrial Revolution set a series of events into motion which destroyed natural habitats and polluted the environment, causing diseases in both humans, animals and plants. |

If you like Butterflies, don't use pesticides It will kill them. Always think, before you use chemicals. When a pesticide can kill a bug, it can kill you too - most of the time, it is only a question of the amount you are using. Scientists have proved, that even small amount of chemicals will harm humans, often not immediately, but in coming years. All pesticides are dangerous to human beings and cause additionally soil contamination and water contamination. Pesticides are the chemical used for spaying to the crop. It kills the insects near by the crop which affects the crop. Farmers all over Earth have the highest cancer rate. A very big drawback of the pesticide is that after a certain period of time the fertility of land goes away and often bugs get resistant. |
Chemical pollutionHerbicides are used to kill weeds. Herbicides derived from trinitrophenol (2:4 D and 2:4:5 T) have the impurity dioxin, which is very toxic and causes fatality even in low concentrations. A millionth of a gram can kill many humans. It also causes spontaneous abortions, hemorrhaging and cancer. Agent Orange (50% 2:4:5 T) was used as a defoliant in Vietnam. Eleven million gallons were used and children born since then to American soldiers who served in this conflict, have shown increased physical and mental disabilities. It affects the head of the sperm and the chromosomes inside it.When you compare the DNA of a plant with the DNA of a human, you will immediately see, why Herbicides kill humans so easily. |

Marine pollution is mostly land based. The pollution often comes from agricultural runoff and wind blown debris. Many potentially toxic chemicals adhere to tiny particles which are then taken up by plankton and benthos animals, most of which are either deposit or filter feeders. In this way, the toxins are concentrated upward within ocean food chains. Many particles combine chemically in a manner highly depletive of oxygen, causing estuaries to become anoxic. When pesticides are incorporated into the marine ecosystem, they quickly become absorbed into marine food webs. Once in the food webs, these pesticides can cause mutations, as well as diseases, which are harmful to humans as well as the entire food web. Toxic metals are also introduced into marine food webs. These causes a change to tissue matter, biochemistry, behavior, reproduction, and suppress growth in marine life. Often animal feeds are produced from sea life - so marine toxins are transferred to land animals, and appear later in meat and dairy products - then eaten by humans. |

Light pollutionon Earth causes many problems for many animals and for humans. The energy used comes mainly from burning fossil fuels = air pollution. More energy consumption produces more air pollution, more water pollution and light pollution reduces the world natural resources for the next generation! |
