Make the Switch to Energy-Saving Bulbs, cutting energy use saves you money Over 120 years ago, light bulbs revolutionized life on Earth. We still call them "lights", but when you look at an old fashioned incandescent bulb you look at a small heater that produces a little light, and a lot of heat. Engineers and scientist found a better light for todays life: Energy-saving compact fluorescent's short CFs CFs use a fraction of the electricity, which means lower electricity bills plus less pollution. Think about the summer when incandescent bulbs heat up your room, and you pay more for your air conditioning. If every household replaced just three 60-watt incandescent bulbs with efficient bulbs, our air pollution would be lowered dramatically! And your bank account would have more money in it. CFs = modern light bulbs use only 20% of the energy, but give you the same light. And they last 10 times longer - less waste, less work to change Now, when you are going to buy some CFs, look for bulbs with a color temperature between 2650 and 2850 degrees Kelvin or labeled "warm white."
New lightbulbs use much less energyNow, someone told you the new light-bulbs are dangerous? There is a little bit of truth in it, because all fluorescent lights contain trace amounts of mercury. But don't worry — there is far less mercury in CFs than in thermometers or old thermostats! Plus, using these bulbs help to prevent mercury from being released into the air from coal-powered power plants. When CFs burn out years down the road, recycle them. Engineers and scientist never get tired coming up with new solutions. For quite a while we can buy LED lightbulbs Why that? LED light bulbs use even less energy than compact fluorescents CFs! And with 50000 hours they have a very long life! LED light bulbs have an efficiency of about 3ß% while old fashioned light-bulbs have only an efficiency of 3 to 4%. LED lightbulbs use much less watts so your electricity bill is lower for a long time! Imagine how much money you can save and how much you can reduce air pollution with a LED lightbulb! Most of the households could save 20-40 % on their household energy bills by implementing energy efficiency improvements.
